Jess Butler

COO

Jess Butler, Chief Operating Officer, has over 15 years in the property and casualty industry with Personal Lines & Commercial Lines backgrounds across product, pricing, process, and technology roles. Thriving on solving complex business problems that don’t have a clear solution, Jess is responsible for relentlessly delivering innovative and cutting edge approaches to utilizing analytics to help our clients improve both top- and bottom-line performance.

Before joining MCA in April 2020, Jess worked at The Travelers. Most recently, she led the efforts on many of the top cross-discipline strategic priorities for Small Commercial. This included developing the digital comparative-rater integration strategy and the execution of the API technical build; in addition, Jess was responsible for the end to end business process for post-acquisition activities.

Prior to the Strategic Initiatives area, Jess held leadership positions within the Product Management organizations for both Small Commercial and Personal Lines. In Commercial Lines, she was accountable for some of the largest states and regions in the portfolio. She tackled complex business problems such as CAT management in the Northeast and maintaining adequate margins on a $100M California Workers Comp book in a negative-rate environment.

Jess spent the first 7 years in Personal Lines Product Management on Auto and Home products. During her tenure, she delivered a 10-point loss-ratio improvement in Massachusetts Personal Auto, as well as turned around the New Jersey Auto book of $215M in one year. In addition, she launched new products in auto and home across the midwestern states, inclusive of rate level determination, competitive analysis, implementation, and monitoring plans.

Jess studied mathematics in her undergrad at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received her MBA from the University of Hartford.

In April 2019, she partnered with two friends to start the “We Bear This Together Foundation” to help support Connecticut families that are going through financial and diagnosis stresses as a result of having a child with epilepsy. In the first 12 months, the foundation raised over $17k to support the cause and created a formal partnership with Connecticut Children’s Epilepsy Center. In her free time, she enjoys golf, the beach, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

The Pennsylvania Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (PAMIC) is a trade association that has proudly represented the Mutual Insurance Industry since 1907.

Our membership comprises some of the most historic companies in the industry, along with new companies who are thriving under the same model.

For more than 120 years NAMIC has been serving in the best interests of mutual insurance companies – large and small – across the United States as well as in Canada. NAMIC membership includes more than 1,400 member companies. The association supports regional and local mutual insurance companies on main streets across America along with many of the country’s largest national insurers. NAMIC member companies write $268 billion in annual premiums and together account for 59 percent of homeowners, 46 percent of automobile, and 29 percent of the business insurance markets.
