Melissa Nichols

Head of Business Intelligence

Melissa Nichols, Head of Business Intelligence, has spent the last 20 years using data and analytics to help organizations identify insights and make more informed decisions. From identifying ground activity on a surveillance aircraft while serving in the United States Air Force to building out enterprise reporting for businesses, Melissa has the experience and passion to transform raw data into actions. She works with individual clients to understand the current state, identify the ideal future state, and customize innovative solutions with a variety of tools and technologies.

Melissa’s experience in the insurance industry spans across P&C Personal and Commercial Lines as well as Healthcare and Life. She spent the last 2 years at Aetna operating the Business Intelligence Center of Excellence for over 15,000 business users and 93 production sites. She assisted organizations with data preparation, data visualization, visual analytics, best practices, governance, training, and strategic solutions.

Melissa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the Central Connecticut State University School of Business. In September 2017, Melissa received her Tableau Desktop 10 Qualified Associate certification.

She and her family live in Central Connecticut, but Hilton Head, SC is their home away from home. Melissa enthusiastically cheers on her son during his basketball games, enjoys tending to her vegetable garden during spring and summer, and cooking is one of her favorite hobbies. Giving back to the community is one of Melissa’s passions. She has volunteered at a local VA hospital, organizations for children/families, food/supply drives, and led a team of local high school business students in two separate Junior Achievement Be Entrepreneurial competitions.

“How well insurers resolve the “synthesis challenge” – interjecting technology, talent and business models into change-resistant legacy environments – may be the biggest success factor for the industry in the next decade.”
