Tessa Phelps

Actuarial Analyst

Tessa joined MCA in April of 2025 as an Actuarial Analyst, where she manipulates complex data to provide informed and actionable insights to her clients. Tessa is responsible for both rate indications and reviews, as well as supporting reserve reviews and assisting with other analyses and actuarial services. She is currently pursuing her actuarial credentials through the Casualty Actuarial Society.

Prior to joining MCA, Tessa worked at Travelers Insurance, where she was an active participant in their Actuarial Leadership Development Program. While at Travelers, she supported Actuarial Product’s Commercial Multi-Peril (CMP) team, where she regularly reported out on key growth and profitability metrics, as well as developed a variety of tools and dashboards to help her team and her business partners better understand the CMP book of business.

When she’s off the clock, Tessa loves nothing more than curling up with a hot coffee, a fuzzy blanket, and a good book – sometimes all at once. Residing in the foothills of North Carolina, she’s also just a short drive away from the Appalachian Mountain range where she likes to hike with friends during the summer. On weekends, you can often find her at her grandparents’ house eating way too much food and playing card games with her family.
